Parents families and friends if you all work together its easier to become physically active..... Have a look below at some top tips:
Be active role models and plan to do activities together - Make time each week to be active and have fun as a family e.g. cycling, walking, playing frisbee or having a kick about. Any changes you decide to make should focus on 'activity for everyone' as part of your lifestyle.
Challenge your kids - Kids love a challenge and great way to motivate is to set them a task, keep it realistic and within their limits and they will keep coming back for more!
Help to practice basic skills - This is key to development in children and key to adults as these skills are ones we tend to lose as we get older. They are important as they help to form the basis of future participation in physical activity and sport e.g. throwing, catching, jumping and running for children, but also keep hand-eye coordination, balance and agility as we get older.
Lastly and most importantly - Praise and reward effort - praise yourself, your children, your family and friends when they are being active - Be positive about accomplishments, big or small and remember to recognise and reward persistence and the 'taking part'.
